The Museum of Vancouver (MOV) is committed to protecting the privacy of people whose personal information is held by the MOV through responsible information management practices. All personal information provided to the MOV through this virtual exhibit is collected, used and disclosed in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA) or other applicable legislation.
Information We Gather:
The Museum of Vancouver uses Google Analytics to records information about your visit. The information is stored in our server logs and includes information about your your browser, IP address, cookies, and the pages you request.
If the user chooses to submit a story to the exhibit the website collects the users name, email address and the story itself. This information is stored and displayed to the public. None of this information will be sold or distributed to a 3rd party.
How we use IP Address Information:
Diagnose and prevent service or technology problems reported by our users that are associated with the IP addresses controlled by a specific web company or ISP.
Review and study how users view and consume the information on the website.
Security:
No data transmission over the Internet or any wireless network can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure. Therefore, while we try to protect your personal information, the Museum of Vancouver does not guarantee the security of information transmitted to or from the The Visible City website.
