Dayton Boots
Address: 2250 E Hastings St | Neighbourhood: Hastings-Chinatown | Established: c. 1946 | Currently: Active
Vancouver-area loggers would turn to Charlie Wohlford whenever their boots needed fixing—Charlie’s repairs, they said, made their boots better than when they first bought them.
Charlie formalized his casual reputation for boot repair when he opened Dayton Boots in 1946. His famously durable boots became a hot commodity for loggers, oil workers, construction workers, fire fighters, and police officers.
Today, Dayton boots are still a cult classic, and each pair is still crafted by hand.
